Forget luxury. Most sitters are pretty simple creatures 😂

Give us:
☕ A decent coffee setup
🔥 A warm house (or at least instructions for the heating system from 1987)
🐾 A pet that settles after the homeowners leave
📝 Clear notes so we’re not guessing where the bins go at 10pm in the rain

Bonus points for:
🛏️ Fresh linen
🪵 Dry firewood

⚠️ SCAM ALERT – Know What to Watch For
We're seeing a type of post circulating in house sitting communities that is worth flagging here, because it's well-crafted and easy to fall for.

The formula goes something like this:
🏡 Stunning home photos
🐾 Irresistibly cute puppies (Maltipoos are a favourite)
💰 Generous daily pay — think $150–$200 USD per day
A US address
🕐 Shift-style hours rather than overnight stays

It reads like a dream gig. That's the point.
If you ever see a post — here or anywhere — that ticks several of these boxes, reverse image search the photos before you respond. Right-click any image → "Search image," or use Google Lens or TinEye. It takes less than a minute and will often tell you everything you need to know.

Real house sitting involves overnight stays, genuine home care, and homeowners who are present in the conversation from the start. Posts that feel more like a paid job ad than a sit — especially from overseas — are worth a second look.
