Good design rarely happens in a vacuum.

Ours thrives on collaboration.

We reworked the wayfinding across Fed Square in collaboration with Urban Information and MapCo — new map, refreshed signage, built into the existing totems rather than fighting them. And for years now, we've been the design partner behind Sweet Mango, a Melbourne events team's biggest moments — the Metro Tunnel opening, conferences, awards nights and galas.

Different briefs. Same job: collaborate until the strategy, the experience and the communications find their edge.

We work well in the gaps — architectural developments, B2B design, the medical field, arts practices and more. Working alongside teams who have the strategy and content sorted but need the design chops to match.

We’re a bit rounder, a lot wiser, and learning all kinds of new tricks.

A decade of work has a way of shaping you, and our new logo has expanded with us. More curves, more character, and a flex that matches where we're headed.

But this isn't just a glow-up. After 10 years we know our craft better than ever, and we're channelling that into fresh thinking, sharper tools, and some new directions that mean better results for the people we work with.

The new website is coming soon and it’s got some serious moves.

For the past two years, we’ve had the absolute joy of designing end-of-year celebrations for Yarra Trams staff — the kind of events where the brief quietly whispers “go on, make it fun” and then hands you the keys to the theme park.

2024: The Melbourne Zoo ( Zoos Victoria )
We turned the dial toward wild. Invitations prowled into inboxes, banners stretched their limbs across enclosures, and digital screens chirped, roared and rustled with colour. The whole visual world felt like it had escaped the map and wandered straight into the party. Families arrived not just to attend an event, but to step into it — a place where graphics didn’t sit politely on the sidelines, they joined the parade..

2025: Luna Park
Then came lights, loops and a little bit of delicious chaos. This time, the visuals spun themselves into something more electric — bold illustrations, playful motion, and colours that felt like they’d had one too many showbags. Invitations became tickets to a dreamscape, banners danced like they were queueing for the rollercoaster, and every touchpoint carried that unmistakable buzz of a night that refuses to be ordinary.

Across both events, the goal stayed the same: create worlds that feel generous. Big-hearted, family-friendly, and just the right amount of unhinged. The kind of design that doesn’t just decorate an event, it hosts it.

Because when you’re celebrating people, the visuals should show up with the same energy.

Release The Beast!
AKA the VCAT Annual Report.

OU Design was asked to design this beast of a document during a period of transition for the organisation.

The report was developed using an interim brand created by OÙ Design, providing clarity, connection and certainty at a time of transition. The focus throughout was on readability, recognition and calm communication, allowing the combination of content and brand to shine.

It was our pleasure to work alongside Diana Elliott, Michelle Dall and Tessa Riley on this project. Working closely with VCAT and Court Services Victoria staff led to strong partnerships and a well-crafted, accessible Annual Report.
Thanks guys!

OU Design is proud to share the first edition of LaunchVic’s FLUX magazine.

A publication designed to explore ideas in motion and give space to emerging voices, stories and perspectives in the start-up community.

FLUX combines considered editorial, minimalist design, with a distinct perspective, making it a publication that industry leaders want to keep, and look forward to referencing again and again.
A big thank you to Mark Knobel and Kate Gittings of LaunchVic for the collaboration and trust throughout the process. Thoughtful partnerships make for thoughtful work.
