Today, Vietnam turns red. 🇻🇳

On this day in 1945, Ho Chi Minh stood in Ba Dinh Square and read the Declaration of Independence, marking the birth of modern Vietnam. Every year since, the country marks it the same way — flags on every balcony, streets dressed in red from north to south, a colour that means something different here than anywhere else.

Being in Vietnam on this day is its own kind of experience. Locals gather in the streets, fireworks light up over the cities and for one day the whole country moves together. It's not something you can plan around easily — the next one falls on April 30, Reunification Day, so if it's on your list, this is worth building a trip for.
