๐Ÿ’› R U OK?Day 2026

Today is a reminder that a simple question can open the door to an important conversation.

You donโ€™t need to have all the answers.

Sometimes, you just need to:

Ask R U OK?
Listen.
Encourage action.
Check in.

At work, in logistics, across teams and time zones, staying connected matters.

Because good communication isnโ€™t only about shipments, schedules and deadlines.

Itโ€™s also about people.

If someoneโ€™s on your mind, ask.

And keep the conversation going.

Strong logistics starts with strong teams. ๐ŸŒ

Martin and Assunta spent time in Manila with our Philippines team โ€” not simply for meetings, but to listen, exchange ideas, answer questions and better understand what the team needs to keep moving forward.

There was time for training, one-on-one conversations, reviewing processes and, just as importantly, spending time together outside the meeting room.

Because when a team works across countries and time zones, strong communication and strong relationships matter.

And sometimes the best way to strengthen both is simply to sit around the same table.

Thank you to our Manila team for the conversations, energy and warm welcome.

๐Ÿšš Behind the Shipment: Melbourne โ†’ Shanghai / From commercial vehicles to specialised machinery, every shipment brings its own requirements. This Sprinter Pro 519 is preparing for its journey from Melbourne to Shanghai. Route planning, documentation and vehicle preparation all happen before departure โ€” because moving a vehicle internationally is more than simply getting it onto a vessel.

๐Ÿž BMSB Season 2026โ€“27 is now underway.

From 1 September 2026 to 30 April 2027, Australiaโ€™s Brown Marmorated Stink Bug seasonal measures apply to certain sea cargo manufactured in or shipped from target risk countries.

For importers, that can mean:

๐Ÿ“‹ Mandatory treatment for target high risk goods
๐Ÿ” Random inspections for target risk goods
๐Ÿšข Additional requirements for RoRo vessels
โš ๏ธ Specific offshore treatment rules for break bulk, Flat Rack and Open Top cargo

And one detail worth remembering:

The shipped-on-board date shown on the Ocean Bill of Lading determines whether seasonal measures apply.

If youโ€™re importing into Australia during BMSB season, checking the requirements before the cargo moves can help avoid delays, additional costs and biosecurity complications.

โš ๏ธ Yantian Port Update: delays and operational restrictions

Shipping through South China?

Yantian International Container Terminal is currently experiencing increased congestion and vessel schedule disruption following successive typhoons, peak-season cargo volumes and wider pressure across regional ports.

From 26 August, operational restrictions include:

๐Ÿšข Continued ETB-7 gate-in arrangements
๐Ÿ“ฆ Export container receiving quotas by vessel/voyage
โณ Earlier-than-usual cargo cut-offs
โš ๏ธ Risk of terminal rejection or cargo roll-over
๐Ÿ’ฐ Potential additional storage and demurrage costs

According to the latest operational advice received by Clarke, vessels affected by the new measures are not expected to berth before 3 September 2026.

If you have cargo moving through Yantian, allow additional time and review shipment plans carefully with your logistics provider.

๐Ÿšข Behind the Shipment: Brisbane โ†’ Jeddah / Not every shipment fits inside the box. This 1ร—20 Flat Rack OOG shipment required careful planning before it could even reach the port. Dimensions, weight, VGM, survey requirements and carrier approval all form part of moving specialised cargo safely and efficiently. Because with Out of Gauge freight, the journey starts long before the vessel sails. The cargo may be oversized. The planning canโ€™t be.

๐ŸŒ What keeps supply chains moving?

Ships?
Trucks?
Containers?

Of course.

But behind every movement there is something less visible:

๐Ÿค Trust
๐Ÿ’ฌ Communication
๐ŸŒ Relationships
๐Ÿ“‹ Planning

Schedules change. Markets shift. Unexpected things happen.

And when they do, strong relationships and clear communication become just as important as the transport itself.

Technology matters.
Infrastructure matters.

But global trade still depends on people working together.

Because successful supply chains donโ€™t happen by chance.

Theyโ€™re built.

โ˜• Coffee Break Logistics

Port or terminal โ€” same thing?

Not quite.

โš“ A port is the larger maritime area where vessels arrive, depart and connect with landside transport.

๐Ÿ“ฆ A terminal is a specific facility within that port where particular types of cargo are handled.

One port can contain several terminals โ€” for containers, vehicles, bulk cargo and more.

The easiest way to remember it?

The port is the airport.
The terminal isโ€ฆ the terminal.

Sometimes logistics actually gives us an easy one. ๐Ÿ˜‰

๐Ÿž BMSB Season 2026โ€“27 is approaching.

From 1 September 2026 to 30 April 2027, Australiaโ€™s seasonal measures for Brown Marmorated Stink Bug (BMSB) will apply to targeted goods manufactured in or shipped from designated risk countries.

Depending on the type of cargo, requirements may include:

๐Ÿ“‹ Mandatory treatment for target high-risk goods
๐Ÿ” Random inspection for target-risk goods
โš“ Specific requirements for break bulk and containerised cargo
๐Ÿ“„ Correct documentation and evidence of treatment where required

An important detail: the โ€œshipped on boardโ€ date shown on the Ocean Bill of Lading is used to determine whether seasonal measures apply.

Planning ahead can help avoid unnecessary delays, additional costs and biosecurity complications once cargo reaches Australia.

๐Ÿšข Behind the Shipment

A RoRo shipment may look simple once the cargo starts moving.

But the real work begins long before that.

Before machinery is loaded, there are several things to coordinate:

๐Ÿ“‹ Cargo dimensions and weight
๐Ÿšข Vessel and sailing options
๐Ÿ“„ Documentation
โš“ Port requirements
๐Ÿš› Collection and final delivery
๐Ÿค Coordination between multiple parties

For specialised machinery, planning is what turns a complex movement into a smooth one.

The cargo may roll on and roll off.

The logistics behind it certainly doesnโ€™t. ๐Ÿ˜‰
