Western Port Calamari MAYHEM! 🦑 🔥

Squid fishing doesn’t get much better than this! Quality Calamari and ink 🫟 flying around everywhere. It was red hot until the Dolphins 🐬 came through.

Western Ports firing on all cylinders! Calamari & Whiting demolition yesterday 🦑 🐟.
Really good to switch away from Snapper for a change. The Calas went nuts 🥜 with Gawaine and I pulling in one after the other until our bag was secured and some solid pumpers in there too 💨. The Whiting went just as good.. and hopefully a sign our spring summer season will be a decent one!

Another cracking Western Port Snapper 🔥.

Chasing these early season fish has been unreal, with a great start and plenty hitting the deck already. The reds are showing themselves more and more now and if it’s any sign of what’s to come.. I’m looking forward to it 👀.

September Snapper in Western Port rolls on! How’s the colour of this fish? Pretty cool. Not sure I’ve caught one this fair before! He crunched a big chunk bait of Tailor which I had caught earlier in the morning, making a beautiful day on the water even better 👌🏻.

MIDNIGHT. WESTERN PORT. BIG RED 😳

Dead calm and completely silent, this absolute ripper charged the squid bait down and screamed off into the dark without warning.. wish I got the camera 📸 rolling sooner.

A thick, powerful Western Port Red that made staying out late in the cold 🥶 well worth it.

Bit of a break from the Snapper spam.. The Western Port Calamari 🦑 fired up today for Ryan and myself on the morning tide change, hitting a purple patch of them all bunched up. It is always such a hard choice between bait or on the plate 🍽️ .. what would you choose?

Western Port BRUTE of a Snapper 😳.
Last night I was lucky enough to snag this cracking Red. I have been spending a good deal of time looking around before anchoring which has paid off for me so far. This fish really gave some stick, the braid tearing off the spool through the rod guides was as loud as ever. He charged down a fresh squid 🦑 head bait. The fight was wicked! Shame I only captured half of it on film.

Early season Western Port Snapper 🔴 🔥.

The early season fishing has been pretty rewarding so far, and it’s great to have put some nice fish on the deck already.

Snapper season is just getting started and in the weeks ahead it should really kick off with a bang ‼️.

A few Snapper getting around in Western Port today 👌🏻battling the wind 💨. This one took off quick and was not happy 😂. Best fighter so far this September. Nailed a fresh Squid head pinned by two Gamakatsu 5/0 Octopus hooks 🪝. It’s been a good start to the season thus far, let’s hope it keeps rolling.
