Meet Colin and Jean Wilson, two spirited 86‑year‑olds travelling with us on our 6‑night, 7‑day Cape York Adventure Tour with Heritage Tours. They’re Mareeba locals and although they had never been to the Tip of Australia, they’ve travelled the road as far as Weipa many times over the years.
Today we stopped at Breeza Homestead in Lakefield National Park, where they camped and visited over the years. Colin even brought a photo with him.
Watching them reminisce and share stories along the way is a beautiful reminder of how special our own backyard truly is—full of history, memories and inspiration.

Today we began our 7‑night heritage journey to the Cape – and what a start! We flew into Horn Island this morning, explored the history and island life of Thursday Island, then cruised across the Torres Strait by ferry to remote Saibai. Seeing this beautiful part of Australia on a guided small group tour makes it truly unforgettable.
