Let's abolish the Aussie Transport Industry Reform 2026, given its lack of consideration for small business fleets and owner drivers who operate without contracts, rendering Fair Work ineffective.
A case in point is the heavy vehicle annual registration fee of $15,368.60 per truck, $12,950 of which is the Heavy Vehicle Registration Road Use Fee... to the State government.
Daily fuel costs per truck are approx $2800, with the Federal government levying 52.6 cents per litre in Fuel Excise, 32.4 cents per litre in Road User Charge and 10% GST on the total fuel cost.
Fuel Tax Credits are in place and are meant to be our relief, this is something, but questionable also.
Notably, these figures do not account for other essential expenses including tyres, wages, insurance, loan repayments, maintenance, and compliance costs.
ALL transport business' need a fuel surcharge, they will not survive without one in the current circumstances. It needs to be across the board and used appropriately, its not to make money, its to survive tough times.
The Government needs to reassess its stance immediately and implement financial cuts to their own pockets, to keep the industry alive.
Just my say - BB
