For years, I shared snippets of this journey through photos, blogs, and stories from the sea.

But some stories need more space.

This reel contains the words from the back cover of my memoir, read in my own voice while sitting quietly on the bow of a boat—a place where many of the lessons in this book were first learned.

If you’ve ever felt the pull to change direction, step into the unknown, or trust a quieter voice within, I hope you’ll take a moment to listen.

Sometimes the biggest journeys aren’t measured in miles.

They’re measured in who we become along the way.

🎧 Sound on.

Breathe in the ocean air as you gently stretch toward the sky, feeling the sand beneath you and allowing the mind to settle. Let the shoulders soften and relax, releasing any tension with each breath. As you gaze outward, find your horizon, and within that spaciousness, find your stillness. Rest here in calm awareness, embracing the peaceful rhythm of Yoga on the Water

Not every practice needs to be strong.

Not every day needs to be productive.

Sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is simply pause long enough to notice what is already here.

Over the years I’ve practised yoga in studios, on docks, in island halls, and on the decks of boats swinging gently at anchor. What I’ve learned is that peace isn’t found in the perfect location.

It’s found in the moment we stop resisting where we are.

The sound of water.
The feeling of breath.
The warmth of the morning sun.
The simple gift of being alive.

Perhaps today doesn’t need fixing.

Perhaps today simply needs noticing.

“The bow of Songlines became my yoga studio. Mountains stood watch in the distance while the afternoon sun warmed my skin. With music in my ears and the gentle movement of the boat beneath me, I learned that yoga wasn’t something I did—it was a way of being. Out there, surrounded by sea and sky, stillness was never found in silence. It was found in connection.” Love and Light Leanne “ Finding Stillness between the waves

MOMENTUM

Have you ever changed boats?

Not because you wanted the latest model or something bigger, but because life had other plans?

Over our years of living aboard, we sailed and lived on four very different boats. Each change came with its own story. Some were driven by dreams. Some by practicality. Some by challenges we never saw coming.

Migaloo taught us the foundations.

Red Sky carried us into deeper adventures and unexpected lessons.

Songlines took us further than we ever imagined.

And Turn the Page arrived when we needed a different kind of beginning.

Each boat felt like home. Each one required us to let go, adapt, learn new systems, solve new problems, and find comfort in unfamiliar surroundings.

Looking back, I realise the boats weren’t just vessels.

They were chapters.

And perhaps that’s true of life too.

Sometimes momentum isn’t about staying the course.

Sometimes momentum is having the courage to change course, trusting that the next chapter will teach you something the last one couldn’t.

Have you changed boats, caravans, homes, careers, or dreams along the way?

I’d love to hear your story.

One dream. Four boats. Countless horizons.

When I moved aboard in 2009, yoga wasn’t a trend among cruisers. It certainly wasn’t something people photographed and shared online. Most days my mat was rolled out on deck simply because it was what kept me grounded.

The cruising world was full of sailors, adventurers and dreamers, but few seemed interested in downward dogs between anchor watches or sun salutations before breakfast. Yoga wasn’t a hashtag. It wasn’t a lifestyle brand. It was a personal practice.

As the years passed, I began meeting more people curious about what I was doing. A stretch for a sore back. A breathing exercise for anxiety before a passage. A few simple movements after days at sea. Slowly, yoga found its place aboard.

Long before social media filled with pictures of perfect poses on paddleboards and yacht decks, yoga was quietly helping me navigate a life shaped by wind, tides and uncertainty.

How blessed i was ….

Can’t wait to share Finding Stillness between the waves

Loads of love

😀 A blast from the past

From practicing on the dock to rolling out my mat aboard SV Red Sky, yoga has been a constant companion through so many chapters of life.

These photos take me back to my days with the , exploring movement, play, connection, and the simple joy of being fully present in nature. The ocean beneath me, the wind in my hair, the sun on my skin, some of my greatest lessons were learned on the water.

Yoga has never been about perfection for me. It’s been about showing up, exploring, falling, laughing, breathing, and discovering what is possible in each moment.

After all these years, it remains one of my greatest pleasures to share, teach, learn, and play.

Thank you to every teacher, student, sailor, and friend who has been part of the journey.

Become still enough to hear yourself… then trust what you hear.

More often than not, my birthdays were celebrated somewhere in the middle of the ocean.

This particular birthday was during our passage from Australia to New Caledonia and Fiji. We were days from shore, surrounded by nothing but blue water and endless horizons.

Without me knowing, my husband John had quietly mentioned to Jade and Nicole, who were crewing aboard Songlines, that it was my birthday mid-passage. Together they organised a surprise.

A birthday cake appeared, voices lifted in song, and for a moment the vast ocean felt incredibly intimate and full of love.

Out there in the middle of the ocean, with nowhere to go and nothing to distract us, the kindness and thoughtfulness of those around me made the day unforgettable.

There are birthdays celebrated in restaurants, homes, and crowded venues. And then there are birthdays celebrated at sea - where your crew become family, the ocean becomes your backdrop, and simple moments become treasured memories.

As I celebrate my 60th birthday today, I find myself reflecting on the adventures, friendships, and love that have carried me across oceans and through the years.

This memory remains one of my favourites.

Sometimes the most meaningful celebrations aren’t the grandest ones - they’re the unexpected moments shared with the people who matter most, in extraordinary places.

💙

To Jay, Nicole, and John — thank you for making a birthday in the middle of the ocean one I will never forget.

“Become still enough to hear yourself. Then trust what you hear.”
