Road tripping with a cat is a curious and sometimes stress exercise. Not being a cat person, the owner told us to keep Jack on a leash when we arrived!!! One of us was always with him except the two times we went for a walk. At 4am each day we discovered blue tongue lizards scurrying under doors, in fireplaces across old timber floors. That upset Jack quite a lot, and us, as you could imagine so early in the morning.

Jalbarragup homestead has an amazing driveway flanked by Jacarandas and cherry blossom trees, along with poplars, all surrounded by blue gum plantations. Built by Joseph and Mary Charlotte Blythe around 1870, they had 9 children (even tho the pic says 8, I spent 2 hours on their family history) in that small cottage to which structural additions were made later. We stayed a few nights.

She's old, and we hope the current owner can find the time to make necessary repairs.
