Wedge Bay Retreat at White Beach on the Tasman Peninsula

Wedge Bay Retreat at White Beach on the Tasman Peninsula Relax in privacy in a two-bedroom open plan home with all conveniences, 2 minutes walk to a beautifu Perfect for families, couples and friends.

A very relaxing home filled with light from its large windows in every room. Large deck in full sun plus roaring log fire to keep you warm in winter. The kitchen is well-set up to enable guests to cook up a storm. You can cook everything and anything with the equipment provided. There are even recipe books to assist with inspiration. Tasmania has such good fresh produce, it is a pity not to take a

dvantage. There are two supermarkets in Nubeena (3kms) and Premaydena (10kms) has a general store that sells local produce, and many other things as well. There is a farm gate vegetable stall on White Beach Road that sells local and other produce. Lucky Ducks cafe also sells seasonal fruit and vegies, as well as serving up food made from local produce. Local markets occur regularly - keep your eyes peeled. And of course, Salamanca Saturday market in Hobart os only 1 hour and 15 mins away. There are lots of books, a TV and Blu-ray DVD and CD player, and movies. The shower is walk-in, and gorgeous fresh towels and cotton bed linen is provided. If it gets cold, light the fire, but it can get very warm quite quickly. The house is easy to access and parking - for 3 or 4 cars - is off-street. Only a road separates you from the beach, so enjoy its pristine waters. A nearby jetty suits those who wish to throw in a fishing rod. We supply beach towels to use if going down to the beach. Port Arthur is 10kms away. There are lots of bush walking tracks (and there is a bush walking book in the book shelf) and Pennicott's Tasman Island boat tour is a must. Explore Eaglehawk Neck and the Tasman National Park. A week will fly by in this fabulous location!

Instead of a traditional guest book, we invite people to draw pictures of the wildlife they see while visiting. We've had some cracker pictures, plus poems and little stories. It's always a joy to read when we are here.

The garden and bush is alive at present with the small birds: scarlet robins, fairy wrens and New Holland honeyeaters. One of last night's surprises, however, was a boobook owl that landed on the railing of the deck and peered in at us with its big green eyes. (Picture and description from Dave Watts' handy guide to Tasmanian birds.)

Check out the range of wildlife on the Tasman Peninsula. And PLEASE, be careful when driving at night. There are too many animals killed on the roads. Drive at less than 80kmph and you should have a chance to see NOT kill animals.

With a wide range of habitats ranging from coastal dune systems to rainforests, the Tasman Peninsula is a haven for wildlife from the tiniest…

This is a chilling read from Booker prize winning author, Richard Flanagan. The idyll that we know as Tasmania is rapidly disappearing. Please don't overuse water and electricity; please recycle; please don't buy stuff wrapped in plastic; please don't run over any wildlife. Please.

The garden is growing well and a new section has been added. Love the correas in flower at the moment.

We have some gorgeous sunsets in the south-east of Tasmania. As yet, I have not encountered a similarly spectacular sunrise. Maybe I get up too late! [Thanks to Tasmanian Living for this shot by Alan.]

Sunset over the Sorell causeway last night.
