Derwent Ferries

Derwent Ferries A trial ferry service operating between Bellerive and Hobart. We look forward to welcoming you aboard.

Derwent Ferries is please to be appointed official operator of the Tasmanian Government’s trial ferry service between Bellerive and Hobart. It’s been a long term goal of the family business to provide a ferry service to the people of Hobart on our beautiful river, so we’ll be doing our utmost to ensure that the trial service is a success. We sincerely hope that the public support the trial so that

in the months and years to come we can expand the service to include more ferries and more routes, to further ease the peak-hour traffic problems that many of us have had to endure in recent times.

70 plus years in the industry and a genuine desire to make it work doesn’t mean that this trial service alone is the answer to all our traffic congestion woes. But we are hopeful that by incorporating ferries into the Government’s broader transport plan, we can contribute to, and future-proof a sustainable transport system that will make day-to-day life a little easier for the people of greater Hobart.
