Who said whale swims were over for September? 👀🐋💦

September in means our beautiful mothers and calves are filling the Bay… but in between watching these special little families, we found a moment to swim with these beauties. 💙

The right whales. The right conditions. The right moment.

And just like that… we were sharing the water with humpbacks. ✨🐋

Every swim is completely on their terms, and that’s what makes encounters like this so incredibly special.

September has arrived, and Hervey Bay is becoming a nursery for the next generation of humpbacks.

These incredible moments show a mother demonstrating behaviours to her calf — and a very enthusiastic little student giving them a go. Every breach and pec wave is part of their time together in the sheltered waters of the Bay before the long journey south.

And while the calves are busy learning, the energy elsewhere is building too, with large males arriving and courting females.

Mothers teaching. Calves learning. Males competing.

The classroom of the sea 🐋 If you're looking for things to do when the school kids are off on Friday, September 5, come join us in Hervey Bay! The humpbacks are a thrill to see up close and our expert naturalist guides will delight the kids with fascinating whale facts and commentary.

We've got morning and afternoon departures for half-day tours and one full-day tour which also takes in the northwestern side of K'gari.

When one encounter just isn’t enough… 🐋💙

This incredible humpback muggged us on BOTH trips today — and this afternoon, we got a whole new perspective from beneath the surface. 🤯

Circling the boat, cruising right underneath us and coming back again and again… this whale clearly wasn’t finished saying hello. 👋🐋
