September 1st 1939.
The day World War II started.
What a coincidence I’m reading this book.
Which is amazing by the way.
Let’s hope history never repeats.

Back in our happy place.
First training sessions in Honbu dojo tonight.
Two sessions for Gerald and one for me.
Both classes were fabulous and we were very warmly greeted by both instructors, Igarashi Sensei then Okuma Sensei, as well as a number of Honbu staff and old friends we’ve met over the years.

It’s all about the numbers as we head in to September.
900 consecutive days of Japanese lessons.
87 days living in Tokyo.
100+ training sessions at Honbu.
600kms walked so far this year. (Not just walking, intentional walking for exercise)

Good morning Fuji san. It’s so good to see you again.
We have arrived back in Tokyo, Japan and made ourselves at home in our little apartment.
Training starts tomorrow.

We are currently sat in Terminal 3 in Heathrow Airport waiting to board our flight to Haneda Airport in Tokyo. We have been visiting our family in Wales for the last 6 weeks or so.
Our trip has been a roller coaster of emotions from the highs to the lows.
We have been spoiled with kindness and love from our family and friends.
We managed to visit some lovely places with the weather being pretty much perfect. It only rained maybe 3 times during our whole stay, 2 of which were as we were leaving.
So many highs and perfect memories.
The trip also had the worst down of all, my brother in law Robert (Rab) Pointer took a tumble and broke his hip, heartbreakingly, he suffered complications after the surgery and he passed away.
Our family rallied together to support each other through this tragedy which was a comfort to all.
We are truly sad to be leaving but grateful to have been home.😥
Thanks again to all, Sharon for putting up with us, Chris for chauffeuring us around and Zoe for lending us your car ❤️

Yesterday we conquered the 4 highest mountains in South Wales on an epic 20.1km hike.
It was hard. Damn hard. But we got to the top of each mountain and down again.
The views were stunning and worth every step.
