* MEDIA RELEASE *
Effectively immediately, our office at the Gladstone Airport is closed and all flights are cancelled.
Given the current collapse of tourism and the economy throughout Australia and globally, the management of Australia by Seaplane have made the difficult decision to cease Seaplane operations from the Gladstone Airport effective immediately.
Our dedicated team has made enormous efforts to continue providing our world-class services to the community of Gladstone, however with decreasing passenger numbers and the disproportionate costs of operating from Gladstone, the business can no longer remain financially viable in this region.
It is the hope of management that the closure of our Gladstone branch will be short-term, however this will depend heavily on the duration of the COVID-19 impacts and the time it takes for both the Australian economy and the Tourism Industry to recover.
We would like to thank the community of Gladstone for their support over the past 8 years. Also, we would like to thank our dedicated and professional team (including the Heron Island staff and management) for many years of going above and beyond to ensure our passengers are delivered to their destinations safely and efficiently.
Aviation safety doesn’t happen by itself. Eight years without incident in the aviation industry is a testament to the professionalism and responsibility shown by each and every team-member. A very heart-felt thank you.
