Galston Valley Railway We are a Model Engineering Club, near Hornsby NSW. Rides are available on our monthly Public Running Days.

We have an extensive 5" gauge miniature railway, with a main-line length about 1 km, and running through a delightful natural bush setting.

Galston Valley Railway

Hornsby Model Engineers has approximately 1 km of 5" (127mm) gauge railway track on which model steam, diesel and electric trains operate. It is known as the Galston Miniature Railway (GMR). There are extensive yards, a station building, unloading/loading and steaming up facilities. The track is signalled and is representative of prototype practice.

We have a Garden Gauge Railway (45mm gauge) just a short walk from the Main Entrance. On Public Running Days “U-Drive” Trains operate for the kids. There is also a sealed traction engine track on which miniature road vehicles operate. Picnic areas have been established for use by members and on public running days, the public. Fees consist of a joining fee and annual membership fee. Expenditure for capital works, maintenance and site service charges comes from public running days.
