Homecoming for Sandy the War Horse.
The incredible statue is matched with a story of sentiment and ANZAC spirit — travelling circa 600km interstate from Wongarbon NSW to final standing appointment in Tallangatta VIC. Sandy was commissioned in memory of the War Horse whom was the only returning horse from World War I (of 130,000 horses who left our shores).*
We are fortunate to have transported Sandy as the intricate yet life size bronze tribute undertaken by Brett Garling. Working with Brett at both ends of the journey and ensuring Sandy was delivered and placed in time for the Tallangatta community’s awaited unveiling was a special job in many aspects.
Documenting the journey with features at Wongarbon departure, Lake Hume and final destination, Triangle Park in Tallangatta, Victoria where Sandy is clothed awaiting the final reveal by the community in paying tribute to their hero horse.
