❄⚠️ Considering bushwalking in western Tasmania?

The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a Bushwalkers Weather Alert, with snow as low as 700 metres expected during Tuesday.

If you're thinking about venturing into those areas, please reconsider.

If you do go bushwalking, you need to make sure you’re properly prepared with equipment and experienced for the snow, wind, and unusually cold conditions predicted.

Tasmania's planning authority has rejected plans to build a cable car on kunanyi/Mt Wellington.

The Mt Wellington cableway company appealed to the Tasmanian Civil and Administrative Tribunal after the project was knocked back by the Hobart City Council.

In its decision, the tribunal found the proponents failed to rectify 18 of the 26 issues raised by the Council.

Those grounds include the noise of the proposed cable car, its impact on the biodiversity of the mountain and the project's visual impact.
