transportme Pty Ltd is thrilled to announce the successful deployment of its contactless ticketing and tracking solution in partnership with the NSW Government.

This innovative initiative is aimed at enhancing public passenger services in rural and regional areas of New South Wales. Transport for NSW is trialling contactless payment technology on buses in Bathurst and Dubbo. The trial commenced in Bathurst in December 2022 and was launched in Dubbo today.

In collaboration with its payment partner, DataMesh Group , Transportme has seamlessly integrated its ticketing and tracking system with Transport for NSW’s transit payment platform. This integration provides passengers with greater flexibility when paying for their bus journeys, now accepting American Express (AMEX), Mastercard, Visa credit or debit cards with the contactless symbol, as well as digital wallet options such as Apple Pay, Google Wallet, and Samsung Pay.

The initial deployment encompasses 27 buses operating from Buslines Group's Bathurst and Dubbo depots. Each trial will run for up to 12 months. Pending the successful outcome of this trial, up to 300 route service buses across other regional and rural areas of NSW could be installed with contactless card reader technology in the future.

Nigel Tooth, CEO and Managing Director of Transportme, expressed his enthusiasm for extending the benefits of their innovative and cost-effective ticketing and tracking solution to rural and regional NSW. He emphasised how this solution not only offers passengers a more flexible payment method for their regional bus trips but also provides operators with tools and features to enhance operational efficiency and unlock business growth opportunities.

Mark Nagy, DataMesh Group’s CEO said that DataMesh is proud to be the payments technology partner of this initiative and is committed to the program to drive the broader adoption of contactless credit debit and wallet acceptance across rural and regional NSW.
