Draw & Discover Tours is heading to Crete next month where we will learn all about the ancient Minoans.
This stunning Minoan fresco, known as the *Saffron Goddess*, showcases the vibrant artistry of ancient Crete. Meticulously restored, the artwork depicts a graceful female figure, likely a deity or priestess, gathering saffron crocuses—a symbol of fertility and healing. Her flowing dress, intricate jewelry, and serene expression reflect the sophistication of Minoan culture (circa 1600 BCE).
The fresco’s bold colors—deep blues, rich reds, and earthy yellows—highlight the Minoans' mastery of natural pigments. Found in the Knossos palace complex, it offers a glimpse into their religious rituals and connection to nature.
A true masterpiece, the *Saffron Goddess* captivates with its elegance and historical significance, bridging the gap between myth and archaeology.
