WEVE MADE IT HOME safe and sound. After leaving Karratha at 1pm Monday, we arrived back at Molly's around 530pm Tuesday... Another epic 28.5 hour drive with around a 6.5 hour stop at the Overlander Roadhouse...

We encountered a lot more wildlife as we were driving through the night including a massive (and i mean MASSIVE) bull which, while driving I thought was a giant Northwest ant mound until it moved its ass swatting flies, while I quickly but gently applied the brakes incase the bastard walked onto the Highway... There would have been no coming back if id hit it at 100kmh!!!

Made it safely past him only for 2 baby goats 🐐 to try and scurry in front of me from the other direction about 200m down the road.. Another goat that didn't want to move off the road until Molly yelled at it (bleeted at it thru the window 🀣) and heaps of baby roos that were all unphased sitting in the middle of the road while a car and trailer manoeuvred around them
A couple of big snakes and HEAPS of beautiful Wedge Tail Eagles soaring above us looking for prey...

It was a slow and steady 80kmh trip from Nanutarra to the Overlander !! With every truck or car coming towards us or behind us causing us to dim our lights and lose visibility for around 3km to be labelled AS***LE !!!

Snuggling down for the night neighboured by a Maui bus full of noisy tourists who had over taken us at high speed TWICE (with a near miss by a road train coming at them the other way) it was obvious they had no regard for the conditions of the road nor the oncoming traffic 🀬 A fair few expletives were flying around in Paj....

Up at 530am we set off for Billabong Roadhouse 50km up the road for a hot fresh breakfast and top up our fuel before continuing on to Geraldton.. A quick visit to one of Mollys dear friends and we were back on the road and on the final stretch HOME!!!

I'd had bu**er all sleep at the Overlander so took advantage of Molly driving. Think I was out cold about 2 minutes later and managed about 2 hours kip to rejuvenate to take over at Gingin and drive the remainder of the way home....

We knew we were getting close when there were AS***LES EVERYWHERE along the Tonkin Highway...after navigating Perth traffic we decided to head down Albany highway instead of the AS***LE truck laden Roe - which once past Armadale proved to be a good decision... We were nearly there...

Pulling into Mollys driveway at 530pm, we dumped Colin the Camper, did a quick reshuffle of Paj to find bags, scooped up the Bin Chicken (Chook πŸ•) who was SUPER excited his fur Mum was home!!!

Tired, in desperate need of a shower but still kinda wired from being awake so long WE WERE HOME!!!

Not too many pics taken on this section of the trip as we were both busy watching the road for locals..

Wow!!! What a whirlwind week...
From fishing and crabbing to lazy sun filled days we've done it... Not a single fish or crab to bring home... But plenty of memories made and fun had....

We ventured out to Dampier, posed for pics with the infamous "Red Dog" and had a quick drink at "The Mermaid"... Saw where Jay is currently working on Pluto 2 and tried our hand fishing in the dodgiest spots without even a nibble...

Went across to Point Samson and the Ghost town of Cossack. Found what we thought was a good spot to try the fishing thing again... Molly caught Australia several times much to mine and Jays amusement and lost half a tackle box worth of gear....I managed to score a double banger!!! 2 fish on one line.. Whilst they looked pretty and were edible Dr Google advised caution as they had extremely poisonous spikes. Ended up keeping them for future use as crab bait!!

Went to a few local spots again, without much luck but Molly managed to snag one Threadfin which she happily took home for her and Jay to share for dinner.

A drive out to Cleaverville saw Jay land a baby GT and some awesome scenery and 4wd'ing and due to there being bulk mangroves, Molly took advantage of low tide and other peoples misfortune and cleaned up on all the snagged fishing equipment to try and replace what she lost at Cossack 🀣 We finished up at the Tambrey for dinner and a few quieties....

Today we begin our journey back to Bunbury 😭
I've definitely caught the Pilbara bug again and can't wait to get back however I'm hanging to wash the red dirt of the Pilbara out of EVERYTHING!!

Howdy people!

We've just got back to Karratha after an epic journey out to Millstream...

A quick visit to Python Pool for a dip (but didn't end up swimming as the water was a bit too green for my liking 🀣) but a nice spot for a day trip or picnic... Jay was in awe that there were fish in there 🀣

On to Millstream to eventually find our allocated camp site. Nice little spot near the Fortescue River, camp kitchen and long drop toilets. Amazingly clean and well maintained.

We did a visit to the Millstream Homestead. This is so rich in Aussie history so was well worth the visit.

Over to Deep Reach to have another crack at the swimming - baring in mind it was around 45 degrees out there and the flies were FAAAAR too friendly so we were all super keen to have a nice cool refreshing swim... Nope... Molly took a dive off the steps and cooled herself down.. And once again I didn't like the look of the water so skipped that one too 🀣 I'm super glad I did as about 5 minutes after Molly got out of the water, a big mob a reasonable sized catfish surfaced right to where Molly went for her splash - all curious and seemingly hungry !!

Anywho I'll stop waffling on and load the pics...
Enjoy!

A few pics of our journey...

Left Bunbury at 2pm Friday and arrived in Karratha around 4pm Saturday!! Not bad going for a couple of shielas!!!

This was including a 1.5 hour, 8km long traffic jam crawling at 8kmh along the Kwinana Freeway!! UGGGHHH the frustration was real!!!

Once we got past that absolute s**t show, we were on our way to K-Town....

A forced stop at 1am Saturday morning at Billabong road house for a few hours sleep and much needed fuel but we had to wait for them to open at 6am!!!
After fuelling the car and our bodies with a deliciously fresh B & E sanga for brekky, once again, we were on our way!!!

So many missed photo opportunities on the way up because we were keen as beans to just keep going!!!

Topped up the fuel again in Carnarvon before starting the final 650km trek to karratha... Only to have to stop AGAIN at Nanutarra or Nutella as Molly calls it 🀣 which we think has proved detrimental to Paj as she started to play up a bit which we think (hope) was just dirty diesel... Getting that issue sorted today...Fingers Crossed

The final 250km proved to be the longest as were both dead ass tired and in DESPERATE need of rehydration in the form of icy cold rum and Bourbon!!!! πŸ₯ƒπŸ₯ƒAnd OHHH MYYYY GODDD- a shower never felt so effing good!!!

FINALLY arrived at our accommodation, showered, hydrated ourselves and done a load of washing and waited for Jay to arrive.. He didn't take long and before we knew it it was bed time!!! A lumpy old mattress didn't deter either of us!!!

So, THAT said.. we made it!! Super proud of our driving efforts and even more impressed at the lack of wildlife we encountered!! In total; 1 fox, 2 bulls, 3 goats and the most amazing Wedge tailed Eagles soaring above us in the air!!!

The pics aren't super flash as most were taken in a moving vehicle. Enjoy!!

Not in any particular order lol

Well.... The trailer is loaded, the car has been almost tetris-ed to within an inch of itself and the bags are (for anyone that knows my last few days) FINALLY packed!!!

This time tomorrow night we will be well on our way!!! There was just a couple of little hitches (pardon the pun!)

Now, what most of you won't know is, Molly did a trial run in the Paj, towing Colin (The Camper) to get a feel for driving with him attached and to learn from Jay how everything works.... I'll get back to that later...

Tonight, Molly has rocked up with Caleb to pick Colin up. After an almost perfect first attempt, the tow ball was in-line with the hitch! BEWDY!!!
Lowering the jockey wheel, we discovered that when the hitch is in the correct spot, there's this little switch that goes from red (unlocked) to green (locked)..... Do you think we could get that bastard to turn green??? NOPE!!

We tried everything in our capabilities before I finally rang Jay to see if he had any idea.... YOURE SUPPOSED TO BE ON GREEN was his reply to which
all of us flipped the bird πŸ–•and chorused a reply of WE KNOW DUHH!!! (Actully, I think i called him di****ad but same/same 😝)

Troubleshooting with Jay for around 10 minutes, his final suggestion was to look up Dr Google..!!!. We thought hard before realising Kahl (Mechanic by day/Super-Dad by night!) might be able to offer some assistance in person rather than showing Jay what he obviously couldnt fix via a pixalated video call (and 1700+km away)Thankfully Kahl said he'd be up shortly!!

Longer story shorter, 20 or so minutes of bu**ering about, Kahl was just perplexed as Molly, Caleb and myself along with Jay on the video call were, as to WHY it wouldn't switch..

We KNEW we had to find an answer AND FAST as to "WHY the SAME car with the SAME tow ball hitching up the SAME trailer just wouldnt switch to bloody GREEEEEEEN πŸ’š" (READ THAT SENTENCE AGAIN!) 😝

Luckily, we were losing daylight because someone switched on the lights πŸ’‘in Mols head and she suddenly blurted out WE CHANGED THE TOWBALL...WE CHANGED THE BLOODY TOWBALL OFF THE UTE ONTO MY PAJ WHEN I DID THE TRIAL RUN (told you id get back that!)... to Jay's response on phone of OHHHH F**K ..WE DID TOO!!! πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈπŸ€¦β€β™€οΈπŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ

After a fair bit of faffing about, Caleb and Kahl had it sorted .... that said.. Colin was on his way up the hill being towed by Paj..ALL GOOD.. to the quick realisation of..oh crap..more issues.. NO TAIL LIGHTS!! Never fear, Kahl is still here and swiftly offered for Molly to take it to his place where he could test and fix what the problem was... Which he did!!! BLOODY CHAMP MATE!! THANKS AGAIN!!!

Fingers and toes crossed 🀞🀞🀞, that's the last of it!!! This time tomorrow night we hope to be making the crossing between Geraldton and Carnarvon...

Hope youve enjoyed a little light reading and "Uhmah" as this is fast going from our "Thelma and Louise" adventure trip to "Kath & Kims" Good night y'all!!!
