WEVE MADE IT HOME safe and sound. After leaving Karratha at 1pm Monday, we arrived back at Molly's around 530pm Tuesday... Another epic 28.5 hour drive with around a 6.5 hour stop at the Overlander Roadhouse...
We encountered a lot more wildlife as we were driving through the night including a massive (and i mean MASSIVE) bull which, while driving I thought was a giant Northwest ant mound until it moved its ass swatting flies, while I quickly but gently applied the brakes incase the bastard walked onto the Highway... There would have been no coming back if id hit it at 100kmh!!!
Made it safely past him only for 2 baby goats π to try and scurry in front of me from the other direction about 200m down the road.. Another goat that didn't want to move off the road until Molly yelled at it (bleeted at it thru the window π€£) and heaps of baby roos that were all unphased sitting in the middle of the road while a car and trailer manoeuvred around them
A couple of big snakes and HEAPS of beautiful Wedge Tail Eagles soaring above us looking for prey...
It was a slow and steady 80kmh trip from Nanutarra to the Overlander !! With every truck or car coming towards us or behind us causing us to dim our lights and lose visibility for around 3km to be labelled AS***LE !!!
Snuggling down for the night neighboured by a Maui bus full of noisy tourists who had over taken us at high speed TWICE (with a near miss by a road train coming at them the other way) it was obvious they had no regard for the conditions of the road nor the oncoming traffic π€¬ A fair few expletives were flying around in Paj....
Up at 530am we set off for Billabong Roadhouse 50km up the road for a hot fresh breakfast and top up our fuel before continuing on to Geraldton.. A quick visit to one of Mollys dear friends and we were back on the road and on the final stretch HOME!!!
I'd had bu**er all sleep at the Overlander so took advantage of Molly driving. Think I was out cold about 2 minutes later and managed about 2 hours kip to rejuvenate to take over at Gingin and drive the remainder of the way home....
We knew we were getting close when there were AS***LES EVERYWHERE along the Tonkin Highway...after navigating Perth traffic we decided to head down Albany highway instead of the AS***LE truck laden Roe - which once past Armadale proved to be a good decision... We were nearly there...
Pulling into Mollys driveway at 530pm, we dumped Colin the Camper, did a quick reshuffle of Paj to find bags, scooped up the Bin Chicken (Chook π) who was SUPER excited his fur Mum was home!!!
Tired, in desperate need of a shower but still kinda wired from being awake so long WE WERE HOME!!!
Not too many pics taken on this section of the trip as we were both busy watching the road for locals..
