Morning all.
A couple of things going on in this picture.
Firstly, all the dirt and dust is from spider treatments. The residue not only kills spiders, but also attracts dust, and needs to be thoroughly washed prior to painting.
Secondly, the peeling paint. This is mainly due to a lack of knowledge and preparation. The pine beams are delivered to site with a travel primer. Owner home painters, and most professional painters are unaware that this is not a wood primer, and just overcoat with two finish coats. The surface actually needs to be sanded, and a primer applied prior to finishing. Most builders are also unaware.
The priority is always preparation.
Have a great weekend.
