Update Time for All Our Travel Stalkers (We See You 👀)
So, after flying in from Thailand a few weeks ago, we sprinted home from Brisbane in just 3 days—only to be welcomed back by cold weather, rain, and the kind of wind that slaps you in the face like a grumpy aunt. It was absolutely gross. 10/10 do not recommend.
But I (Casey) had to get home, because for the past month, I’d been deep in Zoom-land, negotiating another International Job Opportunity—complete with fake smiles, awkward time zones, and “Can you hear me now?” moments. 🫠
Once we arrived home, it was go-go-go: printing documents, chasing police checks, taking passport photos (where I look like a stunned criminal), and getting everything sorted for a visa and work permits.
Then boom 💥—a week later, I get the email.
🎉 “Congratulations!” 🎉
Here’s your job contract, starting August 11th. Oh, and by the way, you’ve got 2 days to sign your life away. No pressure!
But after reading the fine print (and the fine print’s fine print), my gut started doing backflips. Some things didn’t sit right, and no matter how shiny the opportunity looked, it just felt... off. So after making a pros and cons list in my head—and the company trying to sweeten the deal—I ended up declining. Twice. Like a boss.
So here we are. It’s been 3 weeks back at home, with Pilates even at full steam.
Just dropped Luke off at the airport—he’s ditching the bad weather and heading back up to Cairns for 3 weeks of dirt bikes, blokes, and Cape York chaos with the NQ crew.
And me? I’m holding down the fort, being a full-time dog mum, and honestly, pretty damn happy with my decision. 🐾💅
