Importing a vehicle into Australia? Do you have a Vehicle Import Approval?

ABF has issued a reminder about the importance of having the correct Vehicle Import Approval in place, following the detection of more than 900 import entries that could not be matched to a legitimate approval.

A good reminder to make sure your permits and approvals are sorted before the vehicle is shipped.

How awesome is this. Before container ships!

Before the arrival of container ships.

Just love these old photos from the glorious age of shipping on the Brisbane River.

Young boys would gather down to the river to see the forest of derricks and masts and hear that unique noise of the steam winches hauling and lowering the various cargos in and out of the ship’s holds.

It was also those times when the well-known “home boats” were regularly seen at the berths at Hamilton, Newstead, and Dalgety. Such as this image illustrates an Ellerman, Shaw Saville, and the black funneled Peninsula and Oriental Steam Navigation Company ships at Hamilton.

Shipping even came right up to Brisbane’s CBD with the AUSN wharves, where the Eagle Street Pier was and who could forget Patrick’s wharf beside the Customs House in Queen Street where the Australian National Line vessel “Binburra” ran a fortnightly service to Melbourne.

It's NATIONAL VEGEMITE DAY!!
What an Aussie Icon. I love my Vegemite for breakfast, lunch and tea... that's for sure, on toast, with cheese, on jatz, with lamb on fresh bread (ok I'm a little odd!)
