Behind every train that moves coal from pit to port, there’s a team making sure it all runs to plan. We’re looking for an Integrated Rail Operations Coordinator to join that team. 🚂

Our Integrated Rail Operations Centre (IROC) in Rockhampton is the heart of what we do, operating 24/7 to bring together train planning, crew coordination and real time decisions from the Carmichael mine through to the North Queensland Export Terminal. Our trains operate across both the Carmichael Rail Network and Aurizon’s Newlands System, with maintenance focused on the Carmichael Rail Network.

It’s a fast-moving environment where you’ll be making real-time decisions and keeping the plan on track when things don’t go to script.

The Carmichael Rail Network doesn't maintain itself. Good thing we've got people who know exactly how to look after it 😉 and guess what, we're looking for a few more of them.

We're growing our Network Team and are on the hunt for experienced mobile equipment and rollingstock maintainers, resurfacing machine operators, and rail engineers.

Did you know your alarm clock is actually louder than one of our locos? ⏰

Our trains run between 65db and 87db, which puts them somewhere between a normal conversation and a blender whirring away on your kitchen bench. Not too shabby for a 1.4km long consist hauling coal across regional Queensland. 🚂

The horns are a different story, and for good reason. You might hear them from time to time and that's a good thing. They're an important safety tool, our drivers are required to give a blast when approaching public level crossings, and they're designed to cut through car engines and stereos so everyone nearby knows we're coming.

We've got consists moving every single day, so our environmental team is out regularly checking noise levels at along the line. It's something we take seriously and we're always keeping an ear out 😉

Here at BRC, every shift starts the same way: with a safety pre-start. 🦺👷‍♂️👷‍♀️

While pre-start topics vary between Operations and Maintenance – the message is still the same start safe, finish safe. Our crews walk the area, check track conditions, review the previous shift and run through the day’s tasks. It’s where hazards, conditions and planned movements are called out, equipment is checked and everyone confirms they’re fit for duty and ready to go.

It’s a simple routine that keeps everyone aligned before the real work starts moving. It’s the simple routines that make the biggest difference. Even in high-pressure environments, the teams who perform best are the ones who settle in, get their bearings and make sure everything is right before the pace builds.

No need for a flying start, just a smart one. ✅ 🤓

You're almost there. The classroom's done, the hours are clocking up, and a full licence is within reach. The only thing left is finding the right team to get you across the line.

That's where we come in. We're looking for three Train Drivers Under Instruction (Driver Assistant) to join our Operations team here in Bowen. If you've completed all classroom components of your Cert IV in Train Driving (TLI42622), or you're already performing the Driver Assistant role with just Engine and Air competencies left to go, we'd love to hear from you.

Move over Rocky Riverside… the IROC team have a new view 👀

Jo, Shane and Bri from our Integrated Rail Operations Centre paid a visit to Carmichael mine where the black gold BRC’s trains carry begins its journey.

The IROC team works around the clock to keep consists running to plan, from the moment coal is loaded at the mine through to when it’s unloaded at the North Queensland Export Terminal. 🚂 🛤️
