Train to Bondi Beach Supporters

People having to squish into a crowded bus in summer is the reason why so much public space is dedicated to storing private property (cars) in Bondi. Extending the train line to Bondi will liberate public space for public usage, and allow the restoration of the sand dune ecosystem.

POV: people driving to Bondi in summer under current government policies. EVs are better for local air quality, and produce lower CO2 when powered by green energy, but are not a particularly good solution to traffic congestion or the environmental damage caused by mining. We need to move away from a car-based city.

This is what Melbourne looked like in 1968. This is similar to the planning philosophy that brought us Syd Einfeld Drive and the car parks pretty located much on Bondi Beach.

Melbourne hasn’t suffered from removing its waterfront car parks. Bondi won’t either.

The first pic shows Bondi Beach when Sydney’s population had around 2 million fewer people. It’s big car park where sand dunes should be. This type of planning is outdated and not relevant to Sydney anymore. So much of Bondi Beach is dedicated to parking, space that could be better used for people or sand dune rebuilding.
