Hey legends! Time for an update!

🌦️The worms are not liking the heat so I've ramped up the irrigation for the last couple of months to keep the worms happy and productive.
🌧️ They also aren't a fan of the low pressure from all this rain. If you have a worm farm at home you may have notice on rainy days the worms will ball up at the lid trying to avoid a flood.

I've been a little slow on the whole social media thing lately as I've had a a few things in the works.

You have some funny interactions while at the markets. Here's 2 of them...

I was at a stall that was selling chilli plants and looking at their plants they obviously knew what they were doing. Every plant was perfectly healthy.
I asked what their trick is to which they said just a nice organic fertilizer like Seasol and NEVER use compost, they'll get fungus gnats and never be healthy.

"Is that all you use? Seasol, like liquid kelp? There's no way." I said while wiping the weird powdery residue off the leaves.
"Yep, and also"
They then listed 4 synthetic/chemical products they alternate each week. One kelp product, one 20-20-20 synthetic fertilizer and 2 pesticide sprays.😐

The best chat I had and by far the wildest claim I think I've ever heard. "Roundup is actually a plant nutrient if used correctly." 👍 Don't eat that guys food.

Anyway here's a Chilli plant grown with compost and without any Pest management, Seasol or chemicals.
I actually haven't even watered it thanks to this awesome rain we've been having!

Come down to today, Grab some goodies and have some normal chats about real things!

🪱Fungal Worm Castings🍄
"Fresh is best" the saying goes. I'm not too sure about that after this little experiment.

Something we learnt quickly about sifting castings is it shreds fungi into small pieces.
This isn't such a bad thing outside of the garden's soil as there isn't any plant-fungi symbiosis and any kind of structure is being broken apart in the trommel anyway. The main thing is that these beneficial microbes get into your soil and go to work from there.

This time we changed a couple things in the sifting process and stored the castings in bulla bags undercover to let the biology expand. Safe to say we are happy with how it looks!
Packing orders this week has been a treat!

🪱 The Magic of Worm Castings 🪱

Worm castings, or vermicompost, are nature's gift to your plants. Packed with nutrients and beneficial microorganisms, they provide:

🌿Nutrient Boost: Top dressing your potted plants with worm castings provides a gradual release of nutrients over time, enriching the soil and increasing nutrient density in you plants. This slow and steady nutrient supply encourages healthy growth without the risk of nutrient burn or leaching.

💧Enhanced Soil Structure: The organic matter in worm castings improves soil structure of larger soil volumes, allowing for better drainage and aeration. This translates into healthier roots, reduced risk of waterlogging, and increased nutrient uptake by the plants.

🦠Beneficial Microbes: The abundance of beneficial microorganisms in worm castings introduces a thriving microbial community to your potted plants. These microbes aid in breaking down organic matter, suppressing harmful pathogens, and creating a balanced soil food web that supports plant health.

🍂 Always use mulch to protect the castings and enhance their effects!

🌿Try top dressing with worm castings to see the true benefits of this black gold🥇
