Alice Springs Airport Welcomes Royal Australian Navy Delegation Ahead of ANZAC Day
Airport Development Group, owner of Alice Springs Airport was proud to play host to a special arrival today, welcoming a delegation from the Royal Australian Navy ahead of ANZAC Day commemorations in Central Australia.
A contingent of six personnel from HMAS Arunta arrived in Alice Springs where they were formally welcomed to Country by Lhere Artepe Aboriginal Corporation.
The visit highlights the longstanding relationship between HMAS Arunta and Lhere Artepe Aboriginal Corporation, with Corporation members having participated in ship visits over many years. The delegation’s return to Alice Springs, the first recorded visit since 2004 represents a meaningful reconnection between community and service.
During their stay, the Navy personnel will engage with local leaders, including the mayor Asta Hill, connect with NORFORCE representatives, and participate in community activities in the lead-up to ANZAC Day.
Airport Development Group is honoured that Alice Springs Airport could provide the setting for this important welcome ceremony, recognising the enduring bonds between Defence, community, and Country.
Moments like this reflect the role regional airports play, not only as transport gateways, but as places where community, history and national service come together.
We thank all partners involved in making this moment possible and extend a warm Central Australian welcome to the visiting personnel.
