Benson does it again!!!

Last weekend Benson hooked up on a 31.2kg Black Marlin on 15kg line which is now a potential QLD small fri record!

We headed out around 10:30am and after 2 hours, Benson hooked up what was to be his first sucessfull Black Marlin. He has been working hard towards this for some time and whilst having an atempt last year we unfortunately lost it at the boat

Our crew was again sensational on the deck, big thanks to Jordan and Jazmin helping capture the fish.

After the hour fight we headed to White Haven for the arvo with some friends for some drinks and a swim on the beach to cool off from the heat.

The end of a great day, fingers crossed for Bensons potential QLD record!!!

Wow!
What a weekend - what a comp!

Lay Low just did it again and this one is special!! To win our local comp means so much to us all. For 6 years we’ve been chasing it and we finaly got the job done.

LAY LOW - are overall champions 2025!!🎉 🍻

Not only that but our second vessel Hammers Down skippered by Brad Dean came in second !! Absolute legend effort from brad and his team. A team that did not even know each other prior to the comp.

Aboard lay low we had our juniors
Benson and Jazmin- both who also claimed junior male and junior female categories . Ella wagner whom came runner up senior female, Ray Cook who came 4th place in senior males and our sponsor and freind Travis who was a firstimer to game fishing. Big shout out to this whole crew with Ray being a massive asset to the team both prior and during the event. Everyone on this team worked so hard and deserved the win.

In total we ended up with 4 billfish and another 1400 points in other species. Mackeral, tuna and barracuda

- And now a win at Whitsunday. It Doesnt get any better.

Masive thanks to the Whitsunday Game fish club and committee, along with all the other competitors. We have such a great club and we are already looking forward to next year.

Tuesday - trip report

Seaming it was the final day of the school holidays we headed out for a fish.

We had only a small crew consisting of 16 yo ray cook, myself and my son Benson.(9)

Our sole purpose was to get Benson on a bill fish.

And he achieved it in the first hour of fishing, landing a nice sail. He has worked so hard this year losing a number already at the boat, so it was an amazing day to see him achieve his goal.

Ray was outstanding - helping him get set in the chair, clearing the deck and leading all his own. Sensational effort from both young men.

Ben’s fish was later weighed and is now a pending qld and Australian record for small fry male.

Dad could not be prouder !

Mid week fish aboard Lay Low
Going 6 3 2 on sail fish.

Also grabing a good feed of mackerel and red throat. Absolute glammer weather, and great to see some good numbers of sails before the comp in a few weeks.
