Rewatching last year’s whale encounters while we count down to another season of magic ✨
Humpback whales migrate to the Whitsundays each winter to rest, breed, and give birth in the warm tropical waters 🐋☀️
They spend summer feeding in Antarctica, then travel thousands of kilometres north along the East Coast of Australia to the Great Barrier Reef and Whitsundays region during winter. The calmer, warmer waters here are much safer and more comfortable for newborn calves before the whales begin the long journey south again.
That’s why whale season in the Whitsundays is so special, you’re witnessing part of one of the world’s biggest migrations play out right in-front of you 🩵
