Home for the past couple weeks was Airlie Beach 🤍

Our base for visiting Hamilton Island but also where we said goodbye to our awesome mates after spending the last 6 weeks travelling together! It’s been so very cool making memories and sharing the time 🫶🏻
Be a little strange being ‘just the two of us’ once again 😁

We did a u-turn today and are heading back north …. so keep an eye out for some new spots we’re visiting in the coming weeks ☀️

A 3 night stay at the Top of the Whitsundays… golf, sunsets, walks and yum fish & chips!
Oh and a drive by the giant mango 😄

A week in Mission Beach… a week of rain, a cocktail, rain showers, coconuts, crab art, oh and more rain!

So in keeping with the theme, we visited Tully, the wettest place in AUS, rainforests and waterfalls.

The Golden Gumboot in Tully is 7.9m tall and represents their record rainfall in 1950…. 7900mm 😮 It averages about 3345mm plus per year! Obviously it was raining while we were there 😆

Josephine Falls is a tiered cascade waterfall fed by Queensland’s highest peak, Mount Bartle Frere. Ordinarily a great swimming spot with a natural rock slide, the amount of rain made it unappealing for me & not long after Josh jumped in, did the emergency lights come on! Water levels can be very unpredictable.

Babinda Pools are at the base of the same peak. Famous for cascading streams weaving through huge granite boulders … a beautiful spot and it was certainly worth the visit!

The excitement of the sun coming out in full yesterday was an actual thing… Everything looks better when the sun shines 😉

Last week in Cairns was filled with nice downtime (& work obviously) but we made the most of a couple beautiful days and travelled out to Green Island & Fitzroy Island.

Fitzroy Island was a definite fav 😍
Spotting countless tropical fish, turtles and even a couple reef sharks… we had such a fantastic snorkeling experience!
We also made the walk to Nudey Beach for a swim... despite the name, we’re happy to report there were no awkward surprises!
Even though a bit windy, you could see why it was listed amongst the top 50 best beaches in the world in 2025!

Even though Far North Queensland seems to have forgotten it’s the dry season, we’re still living our best FNQ lives 🤟🏻🌴

For those of you wondering, we had a pretty uneventful last 1400km and we officially arrived in Tropical North Queensland! 🌴

Last week was spent at Ellis Beach, catching up with our great mates who we are with for three weeks. Beachfront camping, a few cold ones, plenty of laughs and someone else to tell us we’re reversing the van the wrong way... what more could you want? 😆

Outing of the week, taking the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway over the rainforest to Kuranda before catching the Kuranda Scenic train back down. Although the weather wasn’t on point, we still had some awesome views when we weren’t ’lost’ in the clouds! ☁️

Friday brought what can only be described as an exhausting towing day... 29km! Pretty sure the D-Max didn’t even get warm before we were setting up camp again at Cairns Coconut Holiday Resort.

We’ve copped a little bit of rain since arriving, but when it’s still shorts-and-T-shirt weather in the middle of winter, we’ll happily take that over scraping ice off the windscreen 😄
The weather does look set improve later in the week so we’ll head out to explore a couple of islands on the Great Barrier Reef… fingers crossed we see turtles, colourful fish and maybe a reef shark from a respectful “that’ll do” distance!🏝️

It has actually been nice to stop moving for a while. The caravan’s getting a rest, the D-Max is probably wondering why it’s suddenly unemployed, and we’ve almost forgotten what it’s like to drive more than 500km in a day! 🤪

We’ve officially left South Australia and are making our way north.

First stop was Broken Hill, where we stayed for four nights. Despite spending several days there, we’re still not entirely convinced there is actually a ‘broken hill’ … if anyone finds it, please let us know 😂

While Kat was having productive work days, I was super productive testing out the local golf course, ensuring the fairways & greens were up to par ⛳😉
We did have a free morning to explore and visited the Line of Lode Miners Memorial and Bells Milkbar, the oldest of its kind in Australia 🍨

Over the weekend we did a casual 1,071km spending two nights in Bourke. Not too much too see there but it was great to stretch the legs after the exciting activity of sitting in a car for an entire day!
We crossed the border into Queensland on Sunday, landing in Charleville for another four nights so Kat can continue funding this adventure! 💻💰
I meanwhile, continue on my journey of being the best househusband and creating captivating social posts! 🍽️🧺

This weekend we have one more “small” drive of around 1,400km before reaching Cairns & spending time with friends who are also travelling.

At this point, any drive under 500km feels like a trip to the local shops! 😂 But I’m pleased to report that the caravan is still in one piece, the D-Max hasn’t filed for divorce, and we have a new found appreciation for exactly how large Australia actually is … much bigger than it looks on any map!! 🇦🇺🇦🇺

Cairns, we’re coming for you! 🍻🌴

🌍✨ Lap Life Diaries – European Edition ✨🌍

We hit pause on our Australian lap adventure for a very special reason — spending time with family and meeting our newest little niece 🥰

Our journey began in Amsterdam before heading to Rethymno (Crete) in Greece, where we all spent 6 nights living our best resort lives together. Sun, swims, great food, and even better company made for some unforgettable memories! 🇬🇷☀️🍹

The two of us then spent 8 nights in Italy. We hired a car and road-tripped through some of the country’s most beautiful destinations, including Lake Garda, Cinque Terre, Florence, Siena, and Rome. From lakeside views and colourful coastal villages to historic cities and endless gelato, Italy certainly delivered 🇮🇹🍷🍕

We then returned to Amsterdam for a few more nights with family and had the bonus of catching up with some very special friends who flew in for the weekend. ❤️

Now we’re back in Adelaide, restocking supplies, catching our breath, and getting ready for the next chapter. This Sunday we hit the road again, making our way to North Queensland to chase the warmer weather and continue the adventure. ☀️🚐🌴

Europe, family, friends, and plenty of memories made. Now it’s time to see what Australia’s tropical north has in store for us!

📍 The Barossa Valley I South Australia

W**e region three of three … don’t mind if we do! 🍷🍷🍷

Thoroughly enjoyed our time in the region with some great w**e tasting experiences and delicious food.
We used an AmazingCo voucher I’d been gifted, such a cool way to explore. Solving clues leads you to local artisan producers where you collect items to create a picnic.
A highlight… a great foodie experience at Essen @ Artisans of Barossa where we did the Chefs choice 5 course lunch paired with w**e… probably one of our most favourite eating experiences to date!

There is now more to w**e life than Sauvignon Blanc & Shiraz 😉

We’ve just finished a 10day house sit in one of the Adelaide burbs. About 14km from the C*D with lovely park near by, it was a nice break from van life.

✔️ Morialta Conservation Park
✔️ a stroll around the C*D taking in the museum, art gallery, shopping precinct & central market
✔️ AFL game at Adelaide Oval
✔️ Cycle into the city (34km return 😅)
✔️ Mount Lofty
✔️ Nice downtime

The absolute highlight … seeing Koala in the wild! For the non-Aussies following, we don’t get them in Western Australia so it was a little bit cool 😄

My favourite moment… catching up with an old school friend Caron after at least 20yrs!

Think it’s safe to say we are rather enjoying South Australia too! 💛
