I did my first radio interview this week. ABC New England North West (based in Tamworth), invited me to be part of their travel segment on the Breakfast program with Kristy Reading. They wanted to talk about train travel in Australia and beyond ... and I was happy to help! If you want to listen, jump to 3:12:27 at the link below:

I accidentally mixed up the Bethungra Spiral with the Cougal Spiral, but mistakes happen on live radio! 😝

Part two of this rare Qantas A330 business class flight ✈️
You’re joining me for business class breakfast on a wide-body aircraft that normally flies international routes — plus a look at the completely empty second business cabin. There’s even a moment of extreme wake turbulence that the pilot said was the worst he’d experienced in 35 years.
Lie-flat seats, a 16-inch screen, noise-cancelling headphones… on Sydney–Adelaide. Hard to beat.

Sydney–Adelaide isn’t usually a headline flight… unless you’re flying Qantas business class on an A330.
Instead of the usual 737, today’s flight is on a wide-body A330-200 with two aisles, full lie-flat business class seats, and direct aisle access from every seat. I’m in 4A, enjoying the space, the quiet, and a very different experience on a familiar route.
This rare domestic A330 appearance is thanks to Tour Down Under, with teams heading home after the race. Part two will cover breakfast and the (almost) empty second cabin.

From Seoul to Busan on South Korea’s high-speed KTX 🚄
This journey connects a vibrant modern capital, an ancient city, and a coastal metropolis — all at up to 300 km/h.
I’ve just published the full Seoul–Busan journey, exploring two generations of high-speed trains and why rail matters so much in Korea.

It’s been a while between drinks … but it’s finally time for some soju (Korea’s most popular spirit 😋 ). This time we’re checking out South Korea’s high speed train, the KTX. Cheers (geonbae!). 🚅 🇰🇷

Well, if you travel in the opposite direction, it's a longer journey ... four-days/three-nights with off-train experiences in different locations, including the Hunter Valley and Melbourne. My video about the Brisbane to Adelaide Great Southern is now live. Link in the comments. Enjoy! 🫶

Now back to our earlier programming ... this video was meant to come out first, but my experience on the new Sydney Metro meant that one jumped the queue. This video is both a trip report and an analysis of what went wrong with Bonza. ✈️

This is the story of Australia's latest low-cost airline, Bonza, an airline that flew for just 15 months. Join me as I embark on a captivating journey with B...
