Dear friends, family and those still trapped in the grind, it’s with heavy hearts and held back tears that we mourn a tragic loss today. No, he hasn’t passed away. Mick has simply done something far worse to our daily routine……thats right….the reliable, well loved, hardworking, cranky grandpa of our Jackls family has finally retired.
Let us take a moment of silent reflection to remember the things we will miss and lessons he has taught us over the years:
- That you can survive on lukewarm coffees when they have been left in random places only to be found hours later.
- The world weary sighs everytime a courier thought they could come around a truck in the depot.
- Teaching us the “no” and “that’s right” are a complete sentences.
- That you can live on toasted sandwiches alone.
- Teaching us that even with your eyes closed, slightly snoring and your phone dropping onto your belly that you still aren’t asleep.
- That a simple little bell can make a woman scream at you.
Mick, you have spent years with us perfecting the art of the Jackls “wave” and that magical expression that made it look like you were absorbing and listening to what was being said, when in reality you were mentally planning what the next part was you needed to buy for the car or caravan or remembering to buy a hot chook on your way home for Sas.
We refuse to congratulate you with anything more than 70% of mourning, mostly because we are consumed with jealousy. We fully expect your days to consist of doubling your facebook video watching, afternoon naps that aren’t interrupted by people laughing or truck drivers and driving slowly with your caravan just because you can.
We raise our glasses to you Grandpa. May your mornings be slow, your wi-fi fast and your defender start everytime. Rest in peace to your alarm clock, steel cap boots and high vis Teletubbie rain outfit. We are incredibly happy for you and will miss you terribly. You survived us and now you are free for a permanent weekend. May your middle finger remain strong.
