Anchoring in a bay ⚓ what’s your experience?

A calm bay always looks easy, but good anchoring starts with a few simple checks.
Here are a some useful tips to keep in mind:
• choose a spot with a good holding bottom, ideally sand or mud
• check the depth, wind and swing room before dropping anchor
• use enough scope; in many normal conditions, 5:1 is a common minimum, with more often recommended for overnight or more exposed situations
• let the boat move back slowly to help the anchor set properly
• avoid sensitive seabeds like seagrass where possible

If you pay more attention at the start, you will feel much calmer later 🧘🏽
