Armenia has a corner it doesn’t oversell. This is it.

Syunik — 250km south of Yerevan, where the country narrows into gorges, basalt cliffs, and mountain plateaus that don’t photograph like anywhere else in Armenia. Tatev Monastery sits on a cliff edge above the Vorotan Gorge, reached by the Wings of Tatev — the world’s longest non-stop cable car, flying 320 metres above the canyon floor.

Even in peak summer, Syunik stays quiet. This is the Armenia most tourists never make it to.
