It all comes down to having a plan. Your plan may be to retire in Wisconsin or Jamaica but you need a plan. Preparing to retire can bring fulfillment to those whose lives want more. Start saving and do your research . There is a big world out there so start checking out what’s out there and start your journey. If you don’t have a plan, you are going to wake up one day and realize your chances are behind you. It’s ok to start late, but you need to start and keep it up. Retirement is attainable 😊

La fed in Rome. Deplaned and got in testing line. The only thing that happened different from protocol was we didn’t need n95 masks in waiting area. They let us wear what we had on. Waiting on tests now then to customs. Hopefully no Leon’s with big boxes I am taking onward to Albania in a couple days.

So I got a text from the airline at 1130 pm last night saying our initial flight to Dallas was canceled. With no other way to make connection we drove the 280 miles to the Seattle airport. Upon check in the agent told us unless we had relatives in Italy we could not go. I showed her the docs from the airlines website showing we were good to go but she didn’t care. Finally she called a number and they told her we were good. Next stop Dfw. Hopefully those agents waive us through . So tired. 🤓

Heading out now on our adventure tomorrow. Got negative covid tests and filled out an additional declaration that we understand Italy’s Covid protocols. I’ll update you again when we arrive.

Went online to fill out the EU PLF (Passenger Locator Form). Put in flight Info. Had a couple questions I was unsure of because of the wording. But did my best. Submitted and received a QR code via email that I will need to show at some point during the trip. Also was asked to book covid test to be taken upon arrival in Italy. Says credit card or debit payment required but didn’t see a place to pay in advance so hopefully we will be ok to pay upon arrival. Got an email response saying our tests were booked but not given a time or details so again acting with a bit of faith that it all works out. Today I’m booking the pre flight covid tests that must be taken within 48 hours of departure to Italy. More updates in next day or so. 😊

Heading to Albania with my mom next week to show her around. Routing through Rome which stands to be a challenge. I’ll update as to my progress on the trip. Booked seats on a “Covid Tested” flight to avoid the 10 day quarantine. Also had to fill out forms online and schedule tests. I’ve heard of people messing up somewhere in the process and being sent home so wish us luck and I’ll update as our trip progresses.

I’ve been meeting digital nomads online and in real life. Instead of waiting for retirement to live abroad many have packed up and moved overseas with their families and started a new adventure. We have researched all over Mexico, but recently we have focused on the Balkans in Europe. Albania has great foreign ownership laws and affordable costs overall. A quick flight from several cruise ports, makes it a personal favorite of mine. Many places in Albania offer an affordable option for retirement or those who can work abroad.
