Afghanistan in 12 Days: April 2026 Tour Photos and Itinerary
Kabul, Bamyan, Band-e-Amir, Mazar-e-Sharif, Balkh, Samangan, Herat, Kandahar, and Ghazni.
New photos from our April 2026 Afghanistan tour organized by ATE Tours, covering some of the country’s most important cultural, historical, and scenic destinations.
The journey began at Kabul International Airport, followed by time exploring Kabul’s historic sites, local culture, bazaars, and viewpoints. From the capital, the route continued to Bamyan and Band-e-Amir, where guests experienced ancient history, mountain landscapes, and Afghanistan’s famous blue lakes.
The tour then continued to northern Afghanistan, including Mazar-e-Sharif, the Blue Mosque, the ancient city of Balkh, and Samangan, where guests visited the historical site of Takht-e-Rustam After returning to Kabul by flight, the journey continued west to Herat, one of Afghanistan’s richest cultural and architectural cities.
From Herat, the route continued overland to Kandahar, followed by Ghazni and finally back to Kabul, completing a 12-day journey through Afghanistan’s history, culture, landscapes, and local life.

Afghanistan Small Group Tour: Kabul, Bamyan, Band-e-Amir, Mazar-e-Sharif, Balkh & Samangan

New photos from an Afghanistan small group tour organized by ATE Tours with travelers from the Netherlands and Croatia.

This journey included Kabul, Bamyan, Band-e-Amir, Mazar-e-Sharif, Balkh, and Samangan, combining city life, mountain landscapes, ancient history, Silk Road heritage, and local Afghan hospitality.

In Kabul, the travelers explored the capital’s historic sites, bazaars, viewpoints, and local culture. In Bamyan, they visited the famous Buddha cliffs, cave complexes, mountain valleys, and nearby cultural landscapes. The journey also included Band-e-Amir National Park, known for its deep blue lakes and dramatic natural scenery.

In northern Afghanistan, the travelers visited Mazar-e-Sharif, followed by Balkh, one of the region’s most important ancient cities. The route also included kholm & Samangan, home to historical sites such as Jahan-nama palace, Takht-e-Rustam, and other cultural highlights.
