Earlier this year, Amber was contacted by a mom that found her on TikTok asking if her son could come in for an interview for an internship. We scheduled an interview and this kid said "please, I'll do anything, I'll sweep the floors! I just want to be here an absorb everything I can."

We quite liked the sound of that, so we said, "we'll allow it, here's the broom!" Kidding!

He started a couple of weeks later and he brought a fresh, joyous vibe to the shop. He truly was so happy to be here. He worked the summer, sans a short family vacation... but the second he landed back in Dubai, he was back at the front door.

Today, we happily wrote a letter of recommendation for his college submissions, and when I (Amber) opened up the link and saw he had applied to not only one, but *TWO* TEXAS UNIVERSITIES, I got all teary-eyed.

His mom told us that he wrote an essay about Mike and one about MAKK and that we had a lasting impact on him.

So, business owners, I know it can be daunting to think about mentoring a high school kid --- but you just never know the impact you'll make on them AND YOU.

We had 3 interns over the summer of 2024 and they all had a positive impact on our business and instilled a lot of hope for the future. One was a great graphics designer, one was assertive and bossy (in a good way), and one refused to let me carry anything, because, "my mom would kill me."
