Choose the Right . Protect Your Cargo, Cash Flow, and Peace of Mind.
A single document can determine whether your shipment moves smoothly, gets delayed at the port, or is released before payment is secured.
Here’s a quick guide to choosing the right document for every shipment.

The way your document is issued changes everything—from cargo control and to how fast your goods actually get delivered:
▸ Original Bill of Lading ( )
Think of this as your "maximum control" option. It’s a negotiable title document, meaning whoever holds the endorsed original controls the cargo. It's perfect for new customers or secured terms like LC or CAD. Just keep in mind that the original documents have to be physically couriered, which can slow things down.
▸ Telex Release
Already been paid? This is usually your best bet. You surrender the original B/L at the origin, and the carrier electronically authorizes the release at the destination. It’s much faster, and you completely eliminate the risk of documents getting lost in the mail.
▸ Sea Waybill ( )
The absolute fastest option for ocean freight. It’s non-negotiable and releases cargo directly to your named consignee—no original documents required. The catch? You can't hold the cargo pending payment, so only use this with trusted, repeat business partners.
▸ Air Waybill ( )
The standard for air freight. Unlike sea freight, this is never a document of title and is always non-negotiable. It’s built purely for speed and efficiency, releasing urgent cargo directly to the consignee as soon as formalities are cleared.
▸ Letter of Indemnity (LOI) Release
Consider this your emergency backup. It's used in exceptional situations—like if the original B/L gets lost or the cargo arrives before the paperwork does. It helps you dodge heavy demurrage and storage costs, but the carrier takes on more risk and might ask for a financial guarantee.
💡 The Bottom Line:
• Need maximum control and payment security? Use an Original B/L.
• Payment is already secured and you want a faster release? Choose a Telex Release.
• Working with a trusted buyer and want the quickest sea freight process? Go with a Sea Waybill.
• Shipping urgent cargo by air? The Air Waybill is your standard.
Getting shipping right isn’t just about picking the fastest route; it’s about balancing control, security, and efficiency every step of the way.
