Most people think the San Blas Islands of Panama are just beaches and small islands, but there’s more to do here than people expect. You can visit other islands, explore Guna villages, take boat tours, and even hike inland to waterfalls in the Guna Yala region.

San Blas isn’t just a beach trip — it’s a cultural and travel experience that most visitors don’t fully understand before they arrive.

Visiting a Guna village in the San Blas Islands doesn’t feel like a typical tour. It feels more like visiting someone’s home. The Guna people live simple, traditional lives, and when visitors come into the villages, it’s important to remember that this is their community, not a tourist attraction.

San Blas is different because it’s not built for tourism — it’s a place where people live, and visitors are guests in their region.

Boquete keeps you on your toes.

The San Blas Islands of Panama are spread across a huge area of the Caribbean, and the only way to get around is by boat. With over 300 islands in the Guna Yala region, traveling between islands gives you a better idea of how large and remote this area really is.

Most visitors only see one island, but San Blas is much bigger than people realize.
