Every empty container sitting in the wrong place is a cost somebody absorbs.
At India's busiest container gateway, that cost has been absorbed for years by fragmented yards, congested gates and carriers with no clear view of their own equipment. Last week, RSA Global India opened Phase 1 of its empty container yard at Nhava Sheva to start taking that cost out of the system.
A few moments from the opening, inaugurated by the Chairman of JNPA, with colleagues from JNPA, major terminal operators from Nhava Sheva, shipping lines and the transport community that works this port every day.
We are particularly grateful to the teams at DP World and Emirates Shipping Line, for their steadfast support, valued counsel and exceptional foresight in recognising the long term benefits of a centralised, technology enabled yard ecosystem.
Their confidence reflects not only a commitment to operational excellence, but a deep understanding of the evolving needs of customers and the industry. We are honoured to have them as partners on this journey.
Several other leading global and regional carriers are now evaluating the facility as part of their future operating strategy, and we look forward to welcoming them in time.
Thank you to our colleagues in India, and to everyone who got us to the gate opening.
