**COLORADO KILLS THREE YEARLING WOLVES FOLLOWING LIVESTOCK ATTACKS**🐺

Colorado Parks and Wildlife recently killed three yearling gray wolves that were connected to livestock attacks, adding another chapter to the ongoing debate over wolf recovery and management in the state.

Since July, nearly three dozen livestock have reportedly been injured or killed in incidents involving wolves. The losses have heightened tensions around how Colorado should balance wolf conservation with protecting livestock.

The decision to remove the three wolves has renewed questions about how wildlife officials should respond when conflicts between recovering predators and livestock occur.

As Colorado continues navigating wolf recovery, what do you think is the fairest approach to managing conflicts between wolves and livestock?

💔 A Heartbreaking Goodbye to a Young Studio City Coyote

Wildlife Care of Southern California has shared heartbreaking news about the young Studio City coyote. After a thorough veterinary examination, she was humanely euthanized because the damage to her jaw was too severe to treat.

Diagnostic imaging found two pellets lodged in her head, evidence that she had previously been shot. A severe, longstanding infection had destroyed the upper jaw bone on the left side of her face, leaving no surgical or medical option that could restore normal function. She would have required a soft-food diet for the rest of her life.

Despite everything she endured, this three-year-old coyote survived and adapted for as long as she could. In her final week, she was safe, comfortable, medicated, and cared for.

Her story is a heartbreaking reminder of both wildlife’s resilience and our responsibility to prevent unnecessary suffering. 🐺💔

Godspeed, little girl.

Kaydee and Shadow Share a Vocal Moment at the Big Bear Nest 🦅❤️

Kaydee and Shadow were vocalizing together at the nest, facing one another as their calls carried through the surrounding pine branches.

For those who have followed the Big Bear eagles, moments like this are especially meaningful. Bald eagles are highly vocal birds, using different calls to communicate, and watching two eagles interact around the same nest and territory is fascinating.

For longtime viewers, the nest also carries years of memories of Jackie and Shadow — from the nest they built to the storms they weathered and the young they raised.

Jackie’s place in that history will always remain special. ❤️

Kaydee is not Jackie, and this is a new chapter.

What do you think of this moment between Kaydee and Shadow? 🦅

KD1: From Prado Basin to Big Bear Valley — A New Chapter 🦅

Few could have imagined that the young eagle hatched in Prado Basin would one day travel this far—not even, perhaps, the person who placed the KD1 tag on her.

Her journey has been a remarkable one, and when she arrived in the Big Bear Valley area, attention from people around the world quickly followed.

But KD1 knows nothing of the attention surrounding her, and even if she could, it likely wouldn’t matter to her. She is simply living as an eagle.

Still, there is one undeniable reason so many people are watching her story: Jackie. Jackie left a space in the hearts of many who followed her, and now questions remain. Can KD1 become part of Shadow’s next chapter? Will Shadow accept her as a companion? And will people come to care for KD1 in the same way they loved Jackie?

There is only one way to find out.

Let’s give nature time—and see what the future reveals.

**🦅 LOOK WHO’S ENJOYING THE MORNING SUN! ☀️❤️**

Shadow doesn’t always need to be flying, calling, or defending his territory. Sometimes, he just wants to **sit back and soak up the sunshine.**

With his wings slightly spread and his feathers relaxed, Shadow may be showing a perfectly natural behavior called **sunning**. Birds can use sunlight to help warm their bodies, maintain their feathers, and potentially discourage external parasites.

No drama. No rush. Just one magnificent bald eagle enjoying a peaceful moment in the trees at Big Bear. 🦅🌲

And honestly… that relaxed posture says it all. **Shadow looks completely comfortable.** ❤️

**Washington Boro Eagle’s Green Feathers Reveal a Troubling Double Trauma**🦅

A bald eagle in Washington Boro is showing the visible signs of not one, but two serious challenges: lead exposure and a broken wing. The eagle’s unusual green-tinged feathers are believed to be connected to the effects of lead, while the injured wing adds another layer to its difficult recovery.

The case highlights the hidden dangers wildlife can face from human activity and environmental hazards. Bald eagles remain protected wildlife, and cases like this show why rehabilitation and careful monitoring can make such an important difference.

What do you think communities can do to help reduce the risks facing America’s bald eagles? 🦅

**SHADOW & KAYDEE: Are We Seeing a New Bond Forming? 🦅❤️**

Last night’s interaction between Shadow and Kaydee at the nest may have been one of the most encouraging signs yet.

Kaydee arrived and began working on the nest, and Shadow soon joined her—this time following her in and helping with the sticks. Seeing both eagles working together, watching, and chortling in the nest felt significant to those following their story.

There were even a few “beaky kisses,” although Shadow eventually seemed to object after Kaydee apparently found the wrong feather! 😂

Of course, these observations don’t prove what the future holds. But from what viewers have seen, their interactions may suggest they’re becoming more comfortable with each other and continuing to establish a bond.

Could Kaydee eventually become Shadow’s new mate? 🦅

**NEW OPPORTUNITY TO HELP PROTECT FLORIDA’S EVERGLADES 🐍🌿**

Invasive Burmese pythons are putting pressure on South Florida’s native ecosystem by preying on wildlife including wading birds, mammals, and other reptiles. Removing these invasive snakes can help protect the diverse wildlife that depends on the Everglades.

The South Florida Water Management District is continuing its efforts to restore the Everglades and combat invasive species. Now, its **Python Elimination Program is accepting applications for new python removal agents**.

Agents work on designated lands across South Florida, including Monroe, Miami-Dade, Broward, Collier, Hendry, Lee, and Palm Beach counties.

**FLORIDA BOBCATS MAY BE FIGHTING BACK AGAINST INVASIVE PYTHONS**🐍

A decapitated Burmese python found in Florida’s Everglades is raising an intriguing possibility: native bobcats may be resisting one of the region’s most notorious invasive predators.

Researchers have documented interactions between bobcats and Burmese pythons, but the latest observation could offer another clue about how native wildlife responds to the snakes’ presence. Scientists caution that a single discovery cannot prove bobcats are actively controlling the python population—but it adds to a growing body of observations about predator interactions in the Everglades.

As researchers continue studying these encounters, one question remains fascinating: could Florida’s native predators play a bigger role in confronting invasive species than previously understood?
