Warning for UAE drivers not to use hazard lights while moving during foggy weather. Many motorists switch them on thinking it makes them safer, but officials say it actually causes confusion on the road. Other drivers may not see your turn signals, and it becomes harder to understand your next move.

Driving with hazard lights on is also against the law and can lead to a Dh500 fine and four black points.

Safety experts advise using low-beam headlights or fog lights, slowing down, keeping a good distance from the car in front, and using indicators normally. If you can’t see clearly, it’s safer to pull over and wait for the fog to clear.

Authorities say careful driving during fog can help prevent accidents and protect lives.
