50% OFF Flood-Affected Premium Christina Red Wines

Our premium Christina red wines were touched by the recent floods that swept through our valley. While the labels and packaging may bear a few scars of the storm, the wine inside remains as exceptional as ever.

The Christina range honours Christina van Loveren, a maternal ancestor whose name became part of our family’s legacy.

As we recover and rebuild, we’re offering these flood-affected wines online at 50% off.

We would love to see these elegant reds enjoyed in homes where their story can continue, shared around tables, celebrated with loved ones, and appreciated for the exceptional wines they remain.

LIMITED STOCK AVAILABLE ONLINE ONLY.
This is flood-affected stock. Bottles and packaging may be muddy, dirty, stained, or damaged. The product is sold as is, at a reduced price, with no returns or refunds based on appearance or packaging condition.

The Kaalvoet vrou (The Barefoot woman), is a statue, made by the artist Alfonso Smuts, in the middle of nowhere, well not really, but she off the beaten track between Bergville and Clarens, on the Retief’s Pass.

It commemorates Susanna Catharina Smit, the sister of Gerrit Maritz, who declared that she would rather walk barefoot over the Drakensberg than be ruled under a British flag.

Sadly, she died in Natal, which meant that she never did walk barefoot across the Drakensberg.

Close to her is a pyramid shaped monument to Piet Retief.

To get to her, look out for the sign pointing to the right as you head from Bergville towards Clarens. The road isn't the best, and you have about 20km of bumping to do.

A guesthouse is in the same direction and they have out up encouraging signs every few kilometers with 'it's just around the corner' type messages, which is handy when you start thinking thaf you've missed it.
