Our Daughter's Honest First Impression of South Africa 🇿🇦

I asked our daughter one simple question after experiencing South Africa for the first time:

"So Keiana, is this what you expected from South Africa?"

Her answer?

"Honestly?... Yes!"

Before this trip, she expected South Africa to be beautiful because of all the pictures and videos we had shown her. But after experiencing it for herself, she said:

"The pictures don't do it justice. Being here is amazing. I'm really happy. It feels good."

That is exactly why I encourage people to experience South Africa for themselves.

Beyond the breathtaking scenery, it is the people, the culture, the history, the music, the food, and the connections that make this country unforgettable.

Sometimes the greatest travel experiences are not the ones you see online—they are the ones you live.

It's funny how some people leave an impression that lasts for years.

I met Nikia Phoenix years ago in Los Angeles, long before today's headlines. Everyone knows she's beautiful, but what stood out to me was something you can't photograph—her kindness. My sister was with me.

Nikia walked into the room and somehow made everyone else feel special. She made ME feel like I was the model. 😊

That kind of warmth is rare, and it's something I've never forgotten.

Seeing her trending again as the muse behind Mara Brock Akil's debut novel, The Revelation of Dionne Daphne, made me smile.
