The storms may have passed, but for many in Plett, the recovery is only beginning.

One of our Partners in Protecting Nature was hit quite badly.

Raptor Rescue suffered severe damage to infrastructure and had multiple large trees uprooted.

If you’ve been wondering how to help after the storms, this is one meaningful way.

They urgently need:
• Financial donations
• Fencing, poles, timber, wire mesh
• Cement, bricks, sand, stone
• Screws, nails, cable ties & general hardware
• Help with chainsaws, debris clearing, carpentry & construction

Even sharing this post helps connect support to the people doing the hard work of caring for injured and vulnerable wildlife in our region.

🐾 “But my dog is friendly…”

Right now, many of our shorebirds are exhausted, displaced, injured or recovering after the floods.

Even calm, well-trained dogs change wildlife behaviour — because to wildlife, dogs are still predators.

This isn’t about blaming dog owners.
Our coastal wildlife needs us to act responsibly.

Living with nature sometimes means giving wildlife the space it urgently needs to recover.

🌿The dunes did their job.

While massive waves and flooding battered parts of Plett this week, our dune systems quietly absorbed impact, held sand in place, and helped protect the coastline.

They’re not just “piles of sand.” They’re natural infrastructure.

This is what Living With Nature looks like: Protecting the systems that protect us.

Now more than ever, it is important to respect these wild animals - give them space, keep dogs away and report any odd behaviour or incidents relating to seals immediately.
