Why Headlights Fade/ Yellow?
Headlights are made up of a material called polycarbonate plastic. It is cheaper to manufacture and resist breaking from road debris. Polycarbonate is a porous material , with a light bulb shining from the inside and UV rays shining from the outside the chances of UV coating deteriorating quickly is high resulting in yellowing.

METHODS OF RESTORING HEADLIGHTS:

1. Home remedies : include use of toothpaste and bug repellent with DEET. Toothpaste doesn't contain the proper abrasive for heavily oxidised plastics and is short term fix.

On the other hand, the bug spray melts the plastic resulting in it being sticky to touch.

2. DIY Kits: typically found in parts store and usually contain foam & wool pads and drill attachments. It is by far better than home remedies but not as effective as the Professional. In the medium to long term the headlights may easily deteriorate.

3. Professional: this requires the right knowledge and skill. It permanently restores headlights to their original state if done well and in time.
