Why is Ghana so successful in comparison to majority of African countries?

A fair question to Ask and I will attempt to respond briefly while contrasting Ghana with South Africa...My Home Country. Personally I hold Kwame Nkuruma in the highest esteem as an African Leader with vision and a passion for inclusion. I love the lessons that he left behind about leadership and living. But to the question at hand...

Political Stability- Ghana is the only if not best country in Africa with good democratic system of governance. My country South Africa has failed for over a decade to hold a Head of state accountable through the one institution that is empowered to do just that...the Parliament.

Proper/Even Distribution of wealth- The gap between the rich and poor is not that wide compared to other countries in Africa. The Situation of the Gini Coefficient is South Africa is said to have gotten worse under a democratic rule. The Number of People with Less (Poor, Grant dependant) is increasing much faster than the number of people with something (Middle Class) while the rich are getting much richer.

Population Distribution- You will find that work force is evenly distributed i.e the population comprises of good number of work force in Ghana which makes the country successful. In South Africa you can hardly have a measurement due to porous borders and unscrupulous businesspeople that would prefer to hire an undocumented migrant and pay them with a plate of food knowing very well that the Government has no clue how to control the abuse.

Corruption, Nepotism, Tribalism - I have never heard of such huge cases of the above problems in Ghana. These sorts of challenges can impoverish a country. Practical evidence can be seen at Uganda, Zimbabwe, Kenya and South is dangerously flirting with the same fate.
Better living conditions- Friend of mine who is a renowned author of African books was born and raised in Ghana. I have learned through him that the living conditions in Ghana are better compared to South Africa. They have better healthcare system, Access to education, better social amenities, better roads and more freedom and feeling of safety.

I would love to Visit Ghana some day in the least to observe how to build a nation that is proud and self-reliant.

Wake up Africa.

Thanks!

Did Abraham marry his sister in the Bible? In Genesis chapters 12 and 20, Abraham tells the respective king that Sarah was his sister. To avoid charges of in**st, some readers say she was really his cousin or his niece, but there is nothing in the text to support such an interpretation. Abraham and Sarah probably were brother and sister in earliest Hebrew legend....

Great achievements in science and technology in ancient Africa By Sydella Blatch Feb. 1, 2013 Despite suffering through the horrific system of slavery, sharecropping and the Jim Crow era, early African-Americans made countless contributions to science and technology (1). This lineage and culture of achievement, though, emerged at least 40,000 years ago in Africa. Unfortunately, few of us are aware of these accomplishments, as the history of Africa, beyond ancient Egypt, is seldom publicized....
