The deep, throaty grumble of the Harvard’s Pratt and Whitney Wasp engine made his heart race with excitement. He looked down on the tented camp and the neat rows of aircraft parked below before the pilot, Arnie Meneghalli, put the Harvard through her paces in front of the admiring crowd. The distinctive snarl of the Harvard sending shivers of pure joy down his spine….. Uhambo, the son of the famou
s Wilbur, better known as the King of the Skies, arrived back in South Africa with the Flying Lions, during the EAA Airweek held in Middelburg this last weekend. He is on a new adventure to explore and promote Recreational Aviation in Southern Africa, Uhambo would like to invite you to join him on his page. With such a wide range of activities and experiences available, recreational aviation in South Africa is the perfect way to take to the skies and see the world from a different perspective. It offers a unique and exciting way to experience the beauty of our country. Uhambo is looking for leisurely flights over the countryside and thrilling, adrenaline pumping adventures in the skies, sharing it with everyone. Umhambo is ready to take the leap into Recreational Aviation in South Africa. The new adventure started with a graceful flight with Mark Howse in his elegant glider. Soaring, as silent as a whisper through the wide blue of the African sky, Uhambo enjoyed the tapestry of colours offered below while learning the fine art of finding the invisible thermal to keep the glider flying. Recreational aviation in South Africa is not just about flying, it's also about a community of like-minded people, who share the same passion for aviation and the wide blue sky. This provides an opportunity to socialize, share experiences and learn from other pilots and enthusiasts who become lifelong friends. The sun was still yawning sleepily, peeking over the horizon when the blue flame heated the air inside the brightly coloured hot air balloon slowly taking off for an early morning flight. Hanke Fourie skilfully guided the balloon across the gentle rolling hills. Safely tucked in with his own safety belt, Uhambo had the best seat in the house. He admired the panoramic views of the landscape and enjoyed the soft breeze ruffling his mane. After the flight it was time for a champagne breakfast, of course. Uhambo would love to share your adventures with you in his endeavour to explore every single aspect of recreational aviation. You can book Uhambo through the Aero Club.to join your latest escapade. You need to post his exciting experience with you on his page and on returning him to the Aero Club, complete his logbook for him. Please contact Sandra or Salome at 011 082 1100 to book.
