OFFICIAL STATEMENT
We wish to address the incorrect information currently circulating on Facebook regarding our driver.
The driver experienced symptoms consistent with malaria while on duty. Acting responsibly, he immediately took the malaria medication he had with him in the vehicle. Unfortunately, he suffered a severe adverse reaction to the medication, which caused intense dizziness and rapidly worsened his condition.
As his condition deteriorated, he attempted to seek assistance from the driver of a vehicle behind him. Sadly, his medical emergency was mistakenly interpreted as intoxication rather than a serious health condition.
He was subsequently admitted to hospital, where his condition became critical. At one stage, he was unable to speak. Thanks to the prompt medical care he received, his life was saved, and we are grateful to report that he is now responding well to treatment and continues to recover.
We would also like to categorically state that our driver does not consume alcohol. Any suggestion that he was under the influence is false and does not reflect the facts of this incident.
We kindly ask members of the public to refrain from sharing unverified information, as doing so can cause unnecessary distress to the individual, his family, friends, and colleagues. We encourage everyone to verify facts before making assumptions or publishing information on social media.
We appreciate the concern shown by those who have reached out and thank the medical professionals who have cared for him. We continue to wish him a full and speedy recovery.
