It was good to have ReturnHauler and Randon Implementos - as South America's largest tanker manufacturer - cross paths finally in Cape Town this week.

ReturnHauler applied for patents in Chile, Brazil, Peru, Eduador in 2009, and then communicated with Randon in 2013.

Randon Implementos has built more than 300 000 trailers to date in Brazil, and Randon service outlets are ideally placed to service ReturnHauler units in Chile and Peru that are the world's # 1 and # 3 copper producers, with Chile producing eight times more copper than Zambia as an example.

What were Randon's comments when it came to ReturnHauler :

"Randon used to build tankers that could haul cargo on racks on the top of tanks. But regulations later disallowed this."

"We have not seen this design before. Randon has nothing like this."

"We see ReturnHauler as a 'niche vehicle' that we can see will have application in mining logistics in Latin America."

Randon plants build road tanker barrels in carbon steel and stainless steel, and these plants had spare capacity for ReturnHauler stainless steel food-grade and chemical barrels should this be required.

Impala Warehousing & Logistics gave Usangu Logistics out of Dar es Salaam the job of hauling diesel to Puma Energy Depot in Zambia from Dar es Salaam and then copper cathode plate bundles from the Impala warehouse in Ndola, Zambia to the Port of Dar es Salaam,Tanzania. These photos capture the first copper cathode plate load done by Usangu Logistics in November 2012. Performance of the vehicle on diesel and copper from 2012 to 2014 has been flawless. This ReturnHauler is running 29 tons of diesel one way and 29 tons of copper as a return load on this 3 664 km round trip route. Well done Usangu Logistics for taking on this logical challenge. It sure beats running an empty diesel tanker back from Zambia to Tanzania.

ReturnHauler has some very distinct and positive memories of the first ReturnHauler built at Hubei Heli Special Automotive plant in Suizhou, China. A delivery promise made to our Swiss customer meant we would need to ship in a month from the time Hubei Heli received the drawings. And manufacturing was done on time and without a murmur. And without zero manufacturing faults. Remarkable !!!

The ideal 'return haul' for ReturnHaulers are the high-density mining output loads. There is just about nothing as dense as copper with a density of 7.9. Copper is going on eight times more dense than water. Copper loads fit well under ReturnHaulers empty and raised tanks doing the 1 832 km route from Ndola, Zambia to the Port of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Photos of a ReturnHauler operated by South Harbour offloading in Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa, a 32 Ton load of bulk salt uplifted in Upington, Northern Cape, South Africa. The 'up load' on this route is diesel. A standard tanker would do the return leg empty and earn zero for the operator, whereas using the ReturnHauler this operator was able to generate revenue with the return load.
